PinServe: Pincode Checker

PinServe support

Setup steps, troubleshooting and answers.

Setup

The checkout rule turns on by itself when you install PinServe. You only need to add your pincodes and place the widget.
  1. Add your pincodes. Open PinServe in Shopify admin, go to ZIPs, and add the 6-digit pincodes you deliver to.
  2. Add the widget to product pages. In Online Store > Themes > Customize, open the product template, choose Add block, and pick ZIP delivery validator under Apps. Save the theme.
  3. Set your wording. In the app's Settings, change the labels, messages and button color. The failure message is also what shoppers see at checkout.
  4. Try it. Check a pincode on a product page, then go to checkout with a pincode that is not on your list. Checkout should stop and show your failure message.

Widget isn't showing?

Check these, in order:

  1. The block is on the product template of your published theme.
  2. The theme was saved after adding the block, and you are viewing a product page that uses that template.
  3. PinServe is still installed on your store.

Checkout isn't blocking?

Check these, in order:

  1. Your pincode list has at least one pincode. An empty list checks nothing.
  2. In Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout and make sure the Pincode delivery check rule is on. If you turn it off, PinServe leaves it off until you turn it back on.
  3. The order uses shipping or local delivery. Store pickup is not checked.
  4. Your list holds about 22,000 pincodes or fewer. Above that, checkout cannot hold the list and stops checking, and the app warns you when you save.

How checkout decides

The orderWhat happens
Shipping or local delivery, pincode on your listCheckout continues
Shipping or local delivery, pincode not on your listBlocked, with your failure message
Pincode that is not 6 digitsBlocked, with your failure message
Store pickupNot checked
Your pincode list is emptyNot checked

The check works on every Shopify plan, because it runs as a Shopify Function and not as a checkout page extension.

Add to cart lock

Settings has an option to disable Add to cart when a shopper's pincode fails the check. It is off by default. It only applies after a failed check, so shoppers who skip the widget can still add to cart, and checkout stops them if the pincode is not on your list.

Importing pincodes

On the Pro plan you can upload a CSV or text file on the ZIPs page. Put pincodes on separate lines or separate them with commas. Anything that is not a 6-digit pincode is skipped, and duplicates are ignored.

Plans and billing

  • Free: up to 100 pincodes.
  • Pro: $4.99 USD every 30 days. Removes the 100-pincode limit and adds CSV import, export and bulk delete.

Billing runs through Shopify and appears on your Shopify invoice. You can manage your plan from the app's Billing page.

Data and privacy

PinServe stores your store domain, access token, pincode list and widget settings. It stores no customer names, addresses or orders, and has no access to them. Read the full privacy policy.
